In response to the OpenSSL* advisory (CVE-2010-0740), Intel is releasing an update to the Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) Software Development Kit (SDK)and Intel® Setup and Configuration Service (Intel® SCS) to mitigate this vulnerability. This issue does not affect the Intel® Active Management Technology implementation on Intel® vPro^TM technology based platforms.

 

The Intel® AMT SDK is the development framework for the Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to develop manageability applications that interact with Intel® AMT-enabled systems.

 

Intel® SCS provides the ISVs with the tools to integrate setup and configuration capabilities into their products to setup (provision) Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) devices.

 

The vulnerability in the OpenSSL* library could allow a remote attacker to cause denial-of-service. Intel is releasing updated Intel® AMT SDK and Intel® SCS which incorporate the updated OpenSSL* library to mitigate this issue. It is expected that the ISVs would then provide corresponding software updates to their affected application users.

 

The ISVs utilizing products below are potentially affected by this issue.

The ISVs utilizing the Intel® AMT SDK prior to the public release of version 6.0 (V6.C1076) are potentially affected by this issue. Intel highly recommends the ISVs to include the updated KVM and Redirection libraries into their affected application. For Windows*, the ISVs should replace KVM and Redirection libraries:

·          Redirection library:

o    imrsdk.dll

o    imrsdk_x64.dll

·          KVM library:

o    kvmlib.dll & KVMCustomTransport.dll (applicable to both 32 and 64 bit versions)

o    Alternately, ISVs could recompile the KVM code using the updated Intel® AMT SDK which incorporates the updated OpenSSL* library.

 

For Linux*:

·          KVM library: The ISVs recompile the KVM code using the updated Intel® AMT SDK.

Redirection library: Requires the OpenSSL* library installed in the system to be updated.

 

The users of the management console application for Intel® AMT should contact the respective application provider to determine if their application may be affected.

 

Intel highly recommends the ISVs using the affected versions of Intel® SCS to integrate Intel® SCS version 5.4 or 6.0.1.
