Summary: 

There is a security vulnerability in the Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® drivers 16.x/17.x and all 18.x versions prior to 18.1.1607.3129 (02/26/2016) known as an “Unquoted Service Path”.  All drivers posted with version 18.1.1607.3129 and above due not contain the disclosed vulnerability.

Description: 

The Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® drivers listed below contained a vulnerability known as an “Unquoted Service Path”.  If an attacker obtains elevated privileges and is able to place a file in the truncated service path created by this vulnerability it is possible to execute unauthorized code as a privileged user each time the driver is loaded.

This exploit rates a CVSSv3 ranking of 7.3 High.  CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H

Affected products: 

All Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® drivers starting with 16.x/17.x and all 18.x versions prior to 18.1.1607.3129(02/26/2016) on Windows 7, 8.x, and 10 are impacted.

Recommendations: 

Intel highly recommends updating to Intel® Wireless Bluetooth® driver 18.1.1607.3129 or newer.  All Intel Wireless Bluetooth drivers posted on Intel.com are up to date and do not contain this vulnerability.
